Redlands strikes agreement with Orange County for forensic services

Blue and white helixREDLANDS >> Analyzing DNA is a tedious process, even if Redlands police only make use of it occasionally.
After the proper paperwork is filed, an analyst must extract DNA from evidence such as blood on a broken window or saliva on a cigarette and determine the quantity. Then more of the same DNA is generated. Those samples are inserted into an instrument that can process up to four samples at once. After that the analyst studies the data and attempts to match it to an existing profile in the state’s database.
