Human bones found in dig at notorious Dozier reform school in Florida
MARIANNA, Fla. – Teams of searchers recovered human bones from the sands of Florida Panhandle woodlands on Saturday in a “boot hill” graveyard where juveniles who disappeared from a notorious reform school more than a half-century ago are believed to have been secretly buried.

UC Davis lab takes CSI to the next level by helping police catch killers through pet DNA
A leader in this expanding frontier in crime-fighting is right in our backyard. The forensic unit at UC Davis’ veterinary genetics lab is the only one accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, and is called upon by police across the country and sometimes the ocean.

Backlog of DNA samples wait for testing
GREENSBORO — The city approved a contract in January to send DNA samples to a Burlington laboratory to help solve burglaries and car break-ins.
The lab hasn’t tested a single batch.
