Monroe Co. DNA lab gets federal money

sole DNARochester, N.Y. – The Monroe County DNA testing laboratory was awarded funding Tuesday to cut down on its case backlogs and improve efficiency.
U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced the award from the Department of Justice – stating the laboratory will receive $366,885 under the DNA Backlog Reduction Program.

U.S. Rep. Dan Maffei, D-Syracuse, said the federal aid will help the lab process cases waiting for DNA analysis, while also improving the quality and timeliness of the laboratory’s work.
