R.I. crime lab gets $200K federal grant after Journal reports backlog

Reed says the funds will help the crime lab more efficiently analyze evidence and eliminate the backlog. The senators’ news release noted: “Earlier this year, the Providence Journal reported that there were 110 cases backlogged at Rhode Island’s forensic lab, with an average turnaround time of 300 days.”
