US top court rejects DNA lab test analyst questioning

WASHINGTON, June 18 (Reuters) – The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday made it easier for prosecutors to use expert testimony about DNA laboratory reports at trial without allowing defendants to confront and question the forensic analysts involved in the tests.

The Australian Federal Police will build a major new state-of-the-art forensics centre near Canberra Airport, giving ACT police access to cutting edge fingerprint, DNA, computer and ballistic analysis.
The national forensic centre, which is expected to be built by September 2015, will allow lightning-fast forensic examinations of crucial evidence gleaned from crime scenes in the ACT, and in federal investigations.
