DNA defines Polynesian colonization history

Professor Martin Richards, of the University of Leeds, published new mitochondrial DNA evidence in a paper published in The American Journal of Human Genetics on February 3, 2011, that refutes present theory of what peoples colonized Polynesia. The report was reviewed at the EurekaAlert web site.

Florence County crime lab to aid local prosecution

FLORENCE, SC —
A state-of-the-art crime lab at the Florence County Sheriff’s Office will be a significant aid to local solicitors when it comes to prosecuting criminal cases.
The lab will be incorporated into the current site of the office in Effingham and will have an opening date of June 1, according to Florence County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Mike Nunn.
