Mystery of Kentuckian’s fate laid to rest with return of remains
Another soldier lost in the Korean War is coming home to Kentucky after 60 years.

The remains of Army Sgt. Charles Patterson Whitler, found in North Korea and identified through family DNA samples, will be interred with full military honors Friday at his hometown of Cloverport in Breckinridge County near Elizabethtown.

GBI database reaches 2,000 hits

ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s DNA database has reached more than 2,000 hits to unsolved cases.

GBI Director Vernon Keenan says the database’s rapid increase “proves the value of DNA to law enforcement in solving violent crimes that otherwise may have gone unsolved.”
